Growing up in Ventura, my father took me to a senior PGA tour event in 1989 at Ojai Valley Inn, which was always a mysterious haven of golf. I remember walking a few holes and enjoying the time with my dad. I didn't revisit that course until 2009 when I played it for the first time, after they renovated and restored the finishing three holes, which was a masterful decision.
After securing a 50% plus discounted tee time from GolfNow.com, I played today, was in the first group, and had the pleasure of playing with the course superintendent, who is a genuine guy and really keeps the course in superb shape. I absolutely love the course design (especially the short front nine) and the Ojai Valley Inn resort is truly beautiful. I swear I'm not on the payroll, nor do I know anybody who works there, but I heartily recommend a stay for any golf and/or spa (my wife says it is quite good) enthusiast.
Oh...and I shot a solid 77 and our foursome played in under 3.5 hours on a sunny day in the 60s in February with very little wind. I'm in a good mood!
