Poppy Hills Golf Course Review

Poppy Hills Golf Course Overview: Poppy Hills is a classic forested
golf course that masters the concept of the dogleg. There is nothing tricky or unfair about the
course, just good, solid golf holes demanding length and accuracy. The best of these golf holes are reviewed below:
Poppy Hills Hole 1: The first golf hole is a great foreshadowing of things to come, and there is no time to warm up as this is as hard as it gets from tee to green. A tight dogleg right requires a well thought out drive as anything pushed right will be blocked by trees or in a hazard. The second shot is downhill to a green that is well bunkered and has enough character to scare anybody with a long putt. |

Poppy Hills Hole 2 (right): A par 3 with a split green. This hole requires an accurate tee shot through a shoot of trees in order to find whatever green the pin is placed on. Any shot missing will be left with a tricky up and down, and anything short will be in a barranca.
Poppy Hills Hole 3 (below): Another good dogleg hole, this time to the left, requires a solid drive to score well. The approach on this hole is uphill to a two-tiered, tough to putt green.
Poppy Hills Hole 3 (below): Another good dogleg hole, this time to the left, requires a solid drive to score well. The approach on this hole is uphill to a two-tiered, tough to putt green.
Poppy Hills Hole 5: This par four is relatively straight, but tight. The approach shot must negotiate a lake to the right of the green, which slopes that way and will catch anything slightly pushed.
Poppy Hills Hole 10: This par 5 is short enough to reach in two if the drive can thread its way between a series of bunkers and OB. However, the second shot is very difficult. It is downhill, to a green sitting right behind a lake. Even the lay-up shot will lead to an awkward lie as everything rolls towards the lake.
Poppy Hills Hole 13: Cut from thick forest, this uphill hole has no bunkers on the drive and must simply find the fairway. The approach to the green is again uphill and should avoid the greenside bunkers.
Poppy Hills Hole 18: The last golf hole is a short par five that offers one last chance to score well. The drive must avoid the heavy trees left and right, however, to offer a straight shot to the uphill green with bunkers and a tall, skinny tree to avoid on the way.
