Sierra Nevada Golf Ranch Review
Carson City, NV
75.3 rating; 137 slope |
Sierra Nevada Golf Ranch Overview: Located at the base of Spooner Pass,
just outside of Carson City,
this golf course is long and hilly.
While the views of the mountains are great, the golf course is more punishing
than fun, with uneven lies and severely elevated or downhill shots making club
selection nearly impossible. The best
holes are noted below:
Sierra Nevada Golf Ranch Hole 6: The hardest golf hole on the front nine is this long par four where anything left is dead, and the green sits between a large bunker to the right and steep hillside to the left.

Sierra Nevada Golf Ranch Hole 9: Possibly the best use of the hills on the golf course, this par five is immensely long, but downhill all the way. A central fairway bunker at about 300 yards from the tee must be avoided to make this golf hole play, even at its length, like a short par 5. The green is close enough to a lake on its left to make the golfer wary with the third shot. (not pictured)
Sierra Nevada Golf Ranch Hole 10: The best par 4 on the golf course is a dogleg right with a stream running down the entire right side. The approach is treacherous as anything hit right or too short will bound down a hill into a deep bunker or the creek. (not pictured)
Sierra Nevada Golf Ranch Hole 17: The seventeenth is a long island golf hole surrounded by a pretty little lake and good mountain views. After 16 holes of hilly golf, this provides one of the only flat shots on the course.
