Paiute Golf Course, Snow Mountain Course Overview: This golf course is the most well-balanced of the three tracks at the Paiute resort. It is the easiest on paper but features a good combination of views and fun to play holes with some water hazards sprinkled in along the way. What is lacks in difficulty, it makes up for in an enjoyable test of shot making. The best golf holes are mentioned below:
Paiute Golf Course, Snow Mountain Course Hole 1: The starting golf hole is not difficult or long, but it typifies how many of the par fours on the course set up, with nice views and smallish greens demanding fairly accurate approach shots to allow for birdie putts. |
Paiute Golf Course, Snow Mountain Course Hole 2: The drive on this dogleg left par four provides the main challenge as the desert is reachable on both sides of the fairway. The aggressive line can cut off quite a bit of distance to the green, which is pretty wide open and accessible.
Paiute Golf Course, Snow Mountain Course Hole 3: The first par five of the day is all about the water, which can come into play on the second shot, but definitely is in play on the approach. It can be avoided by staying way left on the second shot and there is plenty of room short-left of the green as well. The views of the surrounding desert on the approach make the golfer aware they are on the edge of civilization.
Paiute Golf Course, Snow Mountain Course Hole 4: This difficult par three is a challenge not only for the obvious water hazard, but also the shallow nature of the green, with bunkers short and long and slight drop offs to the left and right, making holding the putting surface quite tough.
Paiute Golf Course, Snow Mountain Course Hole 6: This par five has a very tight tee shot with desert on both sides of the fairway. The rest of the hole is tame if one can avoid the famous Pete Dye, railroad tie "shell" bunkers that dot the fairway along the path to the green.
Paiute Golf Course, Snow Mountain Course Hole 8: Another par three with a desert vista, the main trouble here is right of the green in the form of a few bunkers.
Paiute Golf Course, Snow Mountain Course Hole 9: The water can be reached from the tee so driver, if used, must stay left. The second shot has a better angle coming from the left, but the water will be in play regardless.
Paiute Golf Course, Snow Mountain Course Hole 10: The back nine starts with this short dogleg left par four around a lake. The aggressive line can fly the bunker on the left to leave a short shot in, if successful.
Paiute Golf Course, Snow Mountain Course Hole 13: Another short par four, this one is a dogleg left around some desert. The easy way to play it is iron to the fairway followed by another short iron. However, in favorable wind conditions, the player can be tempted to drive the green.
Paiute Golf Course, Snow Mountain Course Hole 16: The day's final par three is spectacular, from the rock-lined lake short, to the cactus-lined hill behind the putting surface, the views are great, and the shot is scary.
Paiute Golf Course, Snow Mountain Course Hole 18: The final golf hole of the day is a real challenge as it is a long par four with water left on the tee shot and water that is short and left of the green.
