The Ledges Golf Course ReviewSt. George, UT
72.7 rating; 127 slope |
The Ledges Overview: This golf course is located in the foothills near St. George in a relatively upscale housing community. The front nine is ho-hum parkland golf with holes running next to each other and houses lining the perimeter. The back nine still has houses but has a more natural feel as the course comes closer to the stunning vistas of the red rock hills nearby. The best golf holes are reviewed below:
The Ledges Hole 3: The first par five on the course is relatively simple and dead straight. There are houses to the left from tee to green and not a lot to worry about until the green, which has a very odd, rough-filled, depression that runs from about 40 yards short to the front edge, making front pins (or running up a long shot) nearly impossible.

The Ledges Hole 5: This par three is not very difficult and really any shot that does not go right should be fine. There are bunkers and depression right of the green that just really have to be avoided; otherwise, it's a fairly accessible green and a good birdie opportunity.
The Ledges Hole 7: This par five really just implores the golfer to not go left. There is a mile of room to the right from tee to green and otherwise avoiding the sand will make this an easy par or better.
The Ledges Hole 9: The best hole (and hardest) is the finishing par four with water left that comes into play for a long drive. There are bunkers to the right, however, which will make the approach difficult, so they should also be avoided. The water then snuggles up to the green surface on the left and the green is relatively narrow as well, so near perfection is required from tee to green to finish strong on the front.
The Ledges Hole 14: This hole is the only one on the course where the golfer feels very much in nature (as opposed to near houses). The fairway narrows considerably for a big drive so laying up is not a terrible idea. The green is narrow and has bunkers on both sides, with a really great backdrop to enjoy along the way.
The Ledges Hole 15: This is the decision hole on the back as the short par four can be driven. There is a little room right of the green, but none left, short or long. The layup area is generous, but either way, the left half of the green has a sever slope to it, making putting and placement of the approach critical.
The Ledges Hole 18: Close to a mirror image of #9, this par four has water all the way down the left that needs to be avoided. The green is very long and narrow so the golfer needs accuracy to finish well.
