Desert Springs Palm Course Overview: One of two golf courses at the Marriott Desert Springs, this one is a classic resort style course in the desert. Water plays a role on no less than 8 golf holes and, as the name suggests, there are many Palm trees in view from pretty much every shot of the day. There is enough challenge as well to force the golfer to hit the ball crisply to score well. The best golf holes are reviewed below:

Desert Springs Palm Course Hole 2 (left): A wide landing area greets the golfer on this medium length par four and hitting a big drive is encouraged as the lake / waterfall complex to the left of the green, while not snuggled right next to the green, is close enough to cause trouble, so a more accurate, short iron approach is preferred.
Desert Springs Palm Course Hole 3 (below): On a golf course with four tough par threes, this one is over water the entire way. The hazard creeps a little bit longer to the left, but the bunkers to the right of the green leave a real nasty up and down attempt too, so, bring the accuracy on this one.
Desert Springs Palm Course Hole 5: This is the longest par four on the front and it has OB on both sides of the fairway (although it is relatively wide). The approach will likely be a long one with a deep bunker to the front-right of the green, and a collection bunker long and left.
Desert Springs Palm Course Hole 6: Another good par four with a relatively docile drive, the approach is tough on this one due to the lake both in front of the right half of the green, and flanking its right side. A bunker and hillside long and left will not leave a pleasant chip either and to top it off, a tier makes putting a challenge, with the back-right pin placement very challenging to get to.
Desert Springs Palm Course Hole 13: The Palm Marriott course takes a "fun break" after hole 6 and enters a series of less memorable holes (even though the par threes #8 and #12 are very tough). The fun returns, however, with the approach shot to the par five 13th hole, where water right and a bunkers on both sides of the green make the need for an exacting approach very strong.
Desert Springs Palm Course Hole 15: Near the entrance to the resort, this hole has a lot of Palm trees in view, even though not many are in play. The lake to the right, however, is in play, as are the large bunkers to the left of the fairway. The real trick, though, is the steep slope just behind the green. A shot that goes 1 inch over the back, goes another 10 feet down to the water unless the light rough magically holds it up. So, beware the back pin!
Desert Springs Palm Course Hole 16: Another good par four, this one is all about the drive. With the lake right (and some bunkers) the tendency will be to go left, but the approach to the green is less ideal from over there, and there is out of bounds way left. The green is slightly elevated.
Desert Springs Palm Course Hole 17: This par three is very picturesque and features all you would want in a Palm Desert resort par three: mountain vistas, palm trees, lakes, bunkers and waterfalls. What it might not feature is a good score if the player gets distracted, nervous or just otherwise hits a poor shot.
Desert Springs Palm Course Hole 18: On a golf course with a good list of par fours, the last hole of the day is no exception to this. The golf hole sweeps left around the lake fronting the Mariott Desert Springs Resort and the approach has to contend with the water left and bunkers right. Also, extra nerves can be present if their are people taking a small boat-taxi to their dinner reservations and the golfer pulls their shot near the unsuspecting would-be diners.
