The golf course review guide represents my thoughts on golf courses I have played, as simple as that. Within each golf course reviewed, there are descriptions of various holes that I either found interesting or otherwise noteworthy. Where a camera was present and used, pictures are also included to help all visualize the golf course. Although I do have a brief overall comment on the golf course, I try to focus on the positive (where possible) and give enough information about a decent selection of holes so a golfer who is curious about the golf course reviewed can have some independent thoughts, visuals and information to help them get to know that golf course.
However, in an effort to be more quantitative in these reviews, I've assigned a rating system to help bucket courses. Each Course is ranked out of 5 possible points:
5 = On the Golf Top 18 Course List or those that were and have been bumped to the
"Honorable Mention" page
4 - 4.5 = "First Class" Golf Courses - preferred places to play golf
3 - 3.5 = "Second Tier" - good golf courses for repeat play
2 - 2.5 = "3rd Rate" - Decent "budget" golf courses or
more expensive ones that aren't worth as much as charged
1 - 1.5 = "Last Resort" - would play if only option and/or close to free
The reviews part of the website is also divided into general geographic regions that I find meaningful and relatively easy to navigate. You will clearly see from the number of golf courses in southern California that I am a resident of that area, and most of my vacation golf is also played on the west coast of the United States of America. I also lived in Europe for a couple of years and I try to head back there from vacations from time to time, hence the exposure to those golf courses.
For each golf course review, there is general information on the stats for the longest tee box on the course (or, in some instances, the one I played when I tackled the course). Thus, please understand that if the golf course layout or tee box options have changed since I played it, that will not necessarily be reflected here. There is also no information regarding green fees, etc, as these reviews are truly independent and in no way directly affiliated with any of these courses.
My apologies in advance for any ugly looking swings on behalf of myself or my golfing buddies in the pictures contained herein.
I hope you enjoy reading the golf course reviews, and that they may help you choose where you want to make your next tee time.
