Streamsong Red Golf Course Overview: This is one of the two original golf courses carved out of former phosphate mines near (but not too near) Tampa Bay in Florida. Due to its location / genesis, some of the golf holes have a surreal quality to them. There are also a few other more "normal" holes but the experience is quite unique and some of the shot values throughout are very high and there are many shots that will likely cause the jitters. Coore/Crenshaw hit you in the mouth with one of the most daunting and memorable opening stretches in golf, with water in play on 6 of the first 7 holes. The back nine has less water and is far less memorable than the front nine, but plays a lot longer. The best golf holes are reviewed below:
Streamsong Red Golf Course Hole 1: Although the front nine is not particularly long, the first hole of the day is very long. The tee shot is elevated, which helps from a distance perspective, but the golfer also has plenty of mistakes that can be made for the first shot of the day with water on both sides of the fairway. If the player can hit a good drive, it will still be a long shot to an uphill green complex with a little bit of trouble on either side.

Streamsong Red Golf Course Hole 2: This dogleg right par five has an epic drive with water on all sides except long. Bombing a drive towards the far bunker, but staying short and right of it is ideal. If the drive can be managed, the rest of the hole is relatively accessible, with a long and narrow green complex.
Streamsong Red Golf Course Hole 3: Another elevated drive with lots of visible trouble greets the golfer on this dogleg right par four. The second shot here is also tough with trouble to the right and a steep bank to the left that can be used to throw shots down on the green, but which is tough if a shot gets hung up on it.
Streamsong Red Course Hole 4: After a testing three hole start, Coore/Crenshaw give the golfer a short and fairly wide open par four. The central bunker in the fairway and the one short of the green are the pesky items to miss, but done successfully, the golfer can either drive the green or have wedge in hand for a birdie opportunity.
Streamsong Red Golf Course Hole 5: This dogleg right par four requires a drive to carve its way between the large "dune" left and the water to the right, which plagues the hole all the way to the green complex.
Streamsong Red Course Hole 6: The picture doesn't show it well, but there is water short and right of this green; fortunately, the hole is not long, allowing the golfer to be rewarded by a strong short iron. However, given it's short stature, missing left or right will create a tough up and down and/or penalty depending on the severity of the miss.
Streamsong Red Golf Course Hole 7: This par five has one constant: left is bad at all times. The problem is the hole hugs the trouble, especially the green that has a "dune" to its right that makes approaches from the left side better. So, the game is a clear one: challenge the trouble, but avoid it, to be rewarded.
Streamsong Red Course Hole 12: This par four is crazy long & mean (although fairly wide). It doglegs left and has some water right on the second but basically the player just has to mash two shots straight to have a chance at par.
Streamsong Red Course Hole 13: This par five is uphill and has a central bunker to avoid off the tee. The most unique feature is the large dune that sits in front of the green, making the putting surface not visible from many angles. An old-school design feature, it creates a unique challenge on what might otherwise be an easier hole.
Streamsong Red Course Hole 15: This is an uphill par four that is long. The massive bunker to the left of the fairway must be avoided at all cost but there is a better angle to most pins from the left side of the fairway.
Streamsong Red Course Hole 16: The undulations that this hole is built into is quite unique and a distinct par three experience is created. Going short or right or way left are obvious miscues but the hole is not that long and the green is deep, so a straight shot at its middle can let the player walk away with par most times.
Streamsong Red Course Hole 17: This dogleg right par four is cut nicely between troublesome bunkers on either side of the fairway and has a couple more up by the green to add to the challenge.
