Northstar Resort Golf Course Overview: Situated at the base of the
Northstar ski resort just north of Lake Tahoe,
this golf course is really the tale of two completely different nines. The front is relatively flat and has limited
trees. The back, however, is tight,
hilly and tree-lined. Thus, if the
golfer wants a consistent experience, look elsewhere, but if they enjoy an
interesting and varied experience, Northstar delivers on that front. The best golf holes are mentioned below:
Northstar Resort Hole 3: The first par three on the golf course is relatively short and has a wide, undulating green. The hazard short is reserved for only the worst shots, but one that is off a little will face a tough two putt. With the wind that whips through the valley, care will need to be taken.

Northstar Resort Hole 7: This golf hole must mentioned for its pure brutality. It is 600 yards long with a lake left and very much in play on the tee shot and OB right and reachable for most of the hole. It generally plays into the wind and will required three very long, straight shots to hit the green in regulation. (not pictured)
Northstar Resort Hole 11: This par four is relatively short but feels long as the extremely tight fairway runs out of real estate at about 220 yards. Thus the second shot will usually still be, for the cautious player, around 150 to 170 yards. The approach is to a green over a barranca with the street close behind.

Northstar Resort Hole 14: This sweeping dogleg right par 5 can be reached in two, but only with a perfect drive and a very high second shot that will hold the shallow green located over a barranca. The more conservative approach still requires accuracy and the green is still tough to hit with a short iron.
Northstar Resort Hole 17: This drive on this par four presents a split fairway. The left fairway accepts a longer shot and has the better view to the green, but also brings more trees in play the longer it goes. The right fairway will present a better angle to most pins but may also be blind if not hit the right distance.
