Gentle Creek Golf Club Course Overview: Located in the great little town of Prosper, near Dallas, this is a private golf course. It has a rolling terrain with noticeable, but not overwhelming elevation changes. It also has wide fairways on most golf holes, but, depending on pin placements, the golfer needs to put the drive on the correct half of each fairway. Thus, while the casual golfer may think the course easy on first glance, the seasoned member knows differently. The top golf holes are reviewed below:
Gentle Creek Hole 4: After three fairly tame opening holes, the golf course bares its teeth on this long par four hole. The slight dogleg right has bunkers on the left and a thick series of trees down the right side. Getting in the trouble on either side of this fairway makes par very difficult, so accuracy is a big factor. The green itself has a bunker to the right and a swale to its left.

Gentle Creek Hole 8: The second of two similar dogleg left par fours in a row, this one is longer, tighter and has unforgiving bunkers on both sides of the fairway and the green. It also is a high point of the course and offers a view of the surrounding area.
Gentle Creek Hole 9 : The classic medium length par three over water, this one features a wide, but shallow green with a tier separating the right side from the left, with the left side being much more difficult to access.
Gentle Creek Hole 12: This relatively short par four has a wide landing area for the lay-up drive short of the water left and trees right, which will leave only about 150 yards to the green. For the truly adventurous golfer (see the picture below), driver can leave just a pitch over the water to the green, which is elevated slightly.
Gentle Creek Hole 13: After playing 200+ golf courses, I'm always pleasantly surprised when I encounter a hole type I've not seen before, and the 13th at Gentle Creek fits that bill. It is a medium length par five with trees and a bunker right and another sand trap through the fairway on the left side, but I would not say that a lay-up is required for most golfers. The hole then bends right through a shoot of trees and the second must be played through the trees and over the creek, but stay short of the series of fairway bunkers about 100 yards from the green...unless the drive was placed in the perfect section of fairway over the fairway bunker on the right, in which case the big hitting golfer can go for the green in two.
Gentle Creek Hole 15: Gentle Creek has the longer par three over water on the front, and the shorter par three over water on the back. This one has a very shallow green with a steep slope short that will send balls back in the water, and bunkers behind that will leave touchy chip shots back down the hill.
Gentle Creek Hole 17: This long, downhill dogleg left par four is just classic, good golf. It requires a long and accurate drive and a well placed approach between the fronting bunkers.
Gentle Creek Hole 18: Gentle Creek's closing golf hole has plenty of water to the left. The fairway is still wide and the drive needs to avoid the bunker in the center of the fairway. The water then cuts in front of the hole about 100 yards from the green, and most golfers will lay up and play it as a three shot hole, but it can be tamed if the drive and wind conditions permit. The green is uphill and well guarded by deep bunkers.
