Presidio Golf Course Overview: This classic, tree-lined golf course is located on the west side of San Francisco, near Golden Gate Park. It is a short golf course, but features lots of undulations and, at times, very small greens, thus making club selection both a challenge and a necessity for good scoring. I also imagine there are great city and maybe ocean views, but the amount of fog will dictate what the golfer sees. The
best holes are reviewed below:
Presidio Golf Course Hole 2: This first par five on the golf course has an elevated tee shot and the landing area is near the bottom of the hill. The second shot must then be played back up a hill and is blind. The green is fronted almost completely by two bunkers (there is a five foot wide opening) and is shallow, so only the best or luckiest golfer can go for the green in two. Otherwise, an accurate short iron or chip can get the job done.

Presidio Golf Course Hole 8: The 6th and 8th are similar, mid-length, uphill par fours with strong sloping fairways from left to right. The 8th is the longer, but arguably easier of the two (although a tee shot right is dead), given that the green is pretty wide open to shots from most angles.
Presidio Golf Course Hole 9: Woe to the golfer who cannot hit a straight or draw drive off the back tee at the ninth. The hole doglegs left around trees and right is dead. Straight from the tee is also rough or bunker at best, unless the tee shot is hit only 210 or less (which, this being a par five is an option). However, if the tee shot is negotiated, then, the hole opens up to a cool green complex with great bunkering and nice west S.F. city views.
Presidio Golf Course Hole 10: The first hole on the back nine is straight and uphill. The bunker left off the tees is best to be avoided, as is the large bunker short and left of the green. Other than that, avoiding trees is the only real danger as a good score is available on this par five.
Presidio Golf Course Hole 11: This par four is downhill and the landing area is blind (be aware of hidden golfers in front of you). The second shot is way downhill and two huge bunkers sit in front of the green.
Presidio Golf Course Hole 12: The best and by far most difficult par four on the course is this 450+ yard beast of a dogleg left. Fortunately, it is a little downhill, but a drive in or left of the bunker (best shot is over it) is a real problem. Right is a little better, but also leaves a longer approach to the green, which is slightly back up a hill.
Presidio Golf Course Hole 14: Another uphill and short par four with left to right slope, this one actually seems to have an elevated tee, but plays more flat, until the strongly uphill second shot. The green has bunkers and is a tiny 18 paces deep, so distance control is really a challenge here.

Presidio Golf Course Hole 15: This downhill par three golf hole has a well-guarded green complex with strategic bunkers pretty much everywhere. The best miss by far is short of the green and just right of the bunker. Other than that, up and down par will be very difficult. Also, for those of you that might be concerned, the brown thing at the bottom right of the picture is the "chain" type tee marker, not something else left by a rogue animal.
