Bali Hai Golf Club Review
Las Vegas, NV
73.0 rating; 130 slope |
Bali Hai Golf Club Course Overview: One of a series of golf clubs built right off the Las Vegas strip, this golf course is on the south end and has a tropical theme to it. This theme is achieved through use of white sand and a multitude of palm trees, although it is hard to trick the golfer with the casinos often in view. The course itself is fairly flat and features back and forth golf with the holes separated by either Palm trees, waste areas or water. The wet type of hazard presents itself on 8 different holes. However, the golf course is relatively forgiving with large, flat greens and bailout areas on most holes.
The best holes are reviewed below:

Bali Hai Golf Club Hole 3: One of only two long par fours on the front, this one features a creek running down the right side of this dogleg right hole, all the way to the green. There is plenty of room to the left off the tee with a lone bunker to be avoided. The green has a relatively strong slope for this course.
Bali Hai Golf Club Hole 4: This very short par four features the creek down the right and a bunker on the left, putting a premium on accuracy off the tee. The right half of the green has a lake fronting it and long of the green are bunkers and a hill.
Bali Hai Golf Club Hole 5: The drive on this par four needs to stay between the bunkers right and left of the landing area, but the approach to the green is easier from the left side. The water by the green is very much in play as are the bunkers left and long.
Bali Hai Golf Club Hole 6: The first par three of the day is a short one, which is good because the green is small and tightly guarded by water short and right and bunkers left and long.
Bali Hai Golf Club Hole 7: One of two very similarly designed par fives (the other is 15) this dogleg left tempts the player to fly the bunker at the corner of the dogleg to allow fo a much short approach to the green. However, left of the bunker is desert and,a long drive right will find desert as well. The green is well guarded by a massive bunker short and to the right.
Bali Hai Golf Club Hole 8: The other long par four on the front is straight and offers a nice view of the strip to the north. It also offers the unfortunate golfer the opportunity to put his drive on the freeway or slam a famous Vegas personality in the face, via hitting a billboard. Palm trees guard the right side for the golfer who doesn't like the first two trouble options.
Bali Hai Golf Club Hole 11: The first par three on the back features a water hazard to the left and a large bunker nestled between the water and the green, that also wraps around the back-left side. The front pin placement is much easier than anything back or middle.
Bali Hai Golf Club Hole 16: What would a themed Las Vegas course be without an island hole? This one has a pretty large green and bunkers short and long to save the borderline shot.
Bali Hai Golf Club Hole 18: The finishing hole is a long dogleg left and the player is encourage to challenge the corner as the approach is shorter and the angle to the green better. There is a lake short and right of the green, but it is the bunker that wraps around the green from middle front to middle back via the right side that will provide the challenge as the green itself is fairly shallow.
