Monterey Peninsula C.C., Dunes Course Overview: One of the private golf courses on the
Monterey Peninsula, the Dunes Course at Monterey Peninsula C.C. is the sister
course to the Ocean Course and is characterized by several different types of
holes. The round starts and finishes in
the Monterey
pine forest while making an appearance at the Pacific on the back nine. I played this course over 20 years ago, so I apologize for the rudimentary review. Suffice it to say the course is a good one, but I didn't take any pictures back then (I didn't even own a camera). The best golf holes are reviewed below:
Monterey Peninsula C.C., Dunes Hole 10: The best hole on the course is a little par 3 starting on top of an enormous sand dune. The green is below with the Pacific Ocean seemingly right behind it. (not pictured) Monterey Peninsula C.C., Dunes Hole 13: A short par five that doglegs right along dune scrub down to the Pacific. It is a great decision hole as it can be reached in two, but the green complex makes getting up and down difficult for those who miss. (not pictured)
Monterey Peninsula C.C., Dunes Hole 14: This hole is one of the few on the Ocean side of the 17 mile drive and is a short par 3 where the errant shot right can actually find the water. It is tough to beat playing holes right along the ocean in Monterey. (not pictured) Read More Monterey Golf Course Reviews.
