Brookside #1, Koiner Course Golf Course Overview: Possibly the best golf course that also doubles as a parking lot
for a major concert and sports venue:
The Rose Bowl. This golf course is old
and surrounded by mature trees. There
are several well designed and punishing golf holes, which make this municipal
course a tough, but fun challenge to play, for a reasonable price. See best golf holes below:
Brookside #1 Hole 3: At 461 yards, this par four is very long and requires two fantastic golf shots to hit the green in regulation. There are fronting bunkers so a long approach must be very accurate. (not pictured) Brookside #1 Hole 6: This short par five is reachable in two for the golfer who flirts with the lake on the left side of the drive. From there the green is more accessible. However, there are several “fingers” to the lake, which are sure to grab any drive that is two far left. The false bunker about 50 yards in front of the green can be flown, but must be avoided to score well. (not pictured) Brookside #1 Hole 7: This long par four brings the concrete wash into play for the first time during the round, and it is in play for any pulled shot on both shots to this well-guarded green. (not pictured) Brookside #1 Hole 8: The only truly exciting par 3 on the course requires perfect distance and accuracy as there is a lake fronting the right half of the green. To the left, for the golfer who doesn’t want to flirt with the lake, are large trees and the concrete wash. Anything that goes long is liable to find an awkward stance and/or flower beds. (not pictured) Brookside #1 Hole 9: This short par 4, while awkward, is fun. The drive should be played short of the fairway bunkers. However, the truly adventurous can try to fly them without finding the lake on the left side. However, any drive right of center will be very unlikely to provide a clear access to any pin that is not cut left. This is due to a venerable eucalyptus tree that hovers over the entire right half of the green. Flirting with that tree will usually yield a bunker shot from the sand trap nicely placed under it. Number 9 is a great target golf hole that doesn’t appear to be one. (not pictured) Brookside #1 Hole 10: Another long par four at 425 yards, number 10 requires a good tee shot as the second must be played over the 40 yard long concrete wash to the green. The green is shallow, but wide and is tough to putt. (not pictured) Brookside #1 Hole 12: If all the other long par fours weren’t enough, this beast weighs in at 480 yards, and is not in the least bit downhill. Two monstrous and accurate shots must be played to give the golfer a good shot at par. (not pictured) Brookside #1 Hole 18: The last golf hole of the day is another beastly par 4 at 466 yards. This one also has the added benefit of a lake that will snag any shot pushed right of the fairway. Also, for the truly bad push, finding the outside confines of the Rose Bowl is an unpleasant, but possible option. (not pictured) |
